JUNE 21 – The month begins with some unexpected news – as far as anyone can tell, the Carnival is gone. The field is was set up in is empty, the trash and vehicles used by it are gone, so James and Fixer assume it is because they are so awesome. Midnight and Po mention that they have a lengthy list of people wishing to “re-join” the Fanum, so they bring it to Fixer He gives the list of 40 a look over, then calls James over for a discussion on what the price for admission should be, and what he thinks of the list. They set the price tag at $100,000 a year, plus Fixer notes the Fanum is so awesome that all new members will gain 1 dot of Enigmas and 1 dot of Etiquette. James looks over the list, and between the two of them find 3 questionable applicants. They do deeper in depth research on them, and find 2 are ok after checking them out, but one appears to be a Son of Ether. They set the other 39 aide and wait to call them in.
Susie announces to Fixer that he info reveals Natalya’s tram might have been whacked, since she can no longer detect them in any fashion. Fixer has her get 4 more teams equipped and sent up to Hebron to find out what they can, plus to look for Natalya.
The 39 are called in for interviews. They all pass the entrance exam with no surprises, so he sets a time one week later for them to return for a interview with James. The do so, and James interviews them, deciding one of them is shifty. James calls in some hard core research, and discovers the guy is a Skinrider. His name is Maximus, a Greek scientist with a penchant for enigmas. Fixer has a one-on-one with him and calls out the Wraith inside him. Maximus is confused, until the Wraith surfaces to talk with Fixer. Seems it is named Timus, and is a old Wraith that is currently keeping Maximus alive due to Maximus sticking his nose deep into secrets he prolly should not have and garnered the attention of a Reaper, who stepped up and tried to kill him. Timus, who was assisting Maximus at the time, chose to Skinride him to save him, and they got away. Now they are in hiding, hoping the Reaper doesn’t find them. The duo decide he is of no worry, and James offers Maximus a place to stay inside the Fanum.
Time passes, and around the 15th or so Susie reports that one of the 4 new teams sent north has vanished off her recon. Fixer notes this, and also notes the Fanum is full now and is a success once again. After the Full Moon passes, Susie reports yet another team has vanished. Then a week or so later Susie reports another has vanished. James receives a phone call from his Dad, who is demanding info on what is going on and if James knows about his Mothers whereabouts? James suggests he contact Fixer, so then Fixer receives a call from James Dad. The two talk about Natalya, and the trouble going on up north, before finally James Dad hangs up on him.
Finaly, around the end of June, a crate shows up at the bar, secretly delivered one night. Upon investigation Fixer finds it is full of the last team, divided up in grisly parts, with a note reading “Stay out of Hebron. This is your only warning.” James and Fixer decide to head north. After a brief discussion, James has Fixer stay behind at the Ironhorse Salon while him and Ordrin take the Moon Bridge north.
Ordrin and James head north. They step out of the Moon Bridge and contact Ingrid, who greets them and gives them a report on Cyber Solutions and what all has been happening so far. James comes up with a tactical idea to make a hit on Nancie and her business, and asks Ingrid to come and aid with a distraction. The trio head off to Hebron, and locate Cyber Solutions at the edge of town, with Pentex trucks running in and out making deliveries plus a swarm of guards. James analyzes the situation and comes up with a detailed plan on how they will proceed. Ingrid moves off to the far end of the complex and summons the Horde of Valhalla, drawing away what seems to be half of the guards as they melt and change into a grouping of Formori. James has Ordrin cross the fence and draw away the other half of the guards, keeping them distracted while he sneaks in the gate with the next Pentex truck. Ordrin does so, drawing away the remaining half of the guard who melt and change into cyber-wolves. James sneaks in behind the next truck, and makes his way across the complex to the building and begins searching for Nancie. He climbs up a long set of stairs, through the gloom and decay of a Wyrm/Web tainted collection of webs, until he finally comes to the top. There he finds the whole floor filed with web encased bodies, of which he discovers his Mother and her team, barely alive and having been “experimented” on with cybernetic implants. He frees them, and they rise and turn on him. James makes an immediate escape, not wanting to be forced to fight them, and heads for Nancie. He finds her, and they engage in small talk, but when Nancie starts monologuing James just attacks her. They fight, and Nancie summons forth a huge swarm of insects. James calls on Gaia and repels her and them, then goes bonkers and moves in to finish her.
James then remembers Natalya and goes back to deal with them. Find they are all now half-woozy and not a threat, with Natalya passed out. So James collects her and leads her team back out of the complex, where he meets up with Ordrin and Ingrid. They set fire to the complex, then open a Moon Bridge and head back for home.
