Ordrin and James head north. They step out of the Moon Bridge and contact Ingrid, who greets them and gives them a report on Cyber Solutions and what all has been happening so far. James comes up with a tactical idea to make a hit on Nancie and her business, and asks Ingrid to come and aid with a distraction. The trio head off to Hebron, and locate Cyber Solutions at the edge of town, with Pentex trucks running in and out making deliveries plus a swarm of guards. James analyzes the situation and comes up with a detailed plan on how they will proceed. Ingrid moves off to the far end of the complex and summons the Horde of Valhalla, drawing away what seems to be half of the guards as they melt and change into a grouping of Formori. James has Ordrin cross the fence and draw away the other half of the guards, keeping them distracted while he sneaks in the gate with the next Pentex truck. Ordrin does so, drawing away the remaining half of the guard who melt and change into cyber-wolves. James sneaks in behind the next truck, and makes his way across the complex to the building and begins searching for Nancie. He climbs up a long set of stairs, through the gloom and decay of a Wyrm/Web tainted collection of webs, until he finally comes to the top. There he finds the whole floor filed with web encased bodies, of which he discovers his Mother and her team, barely alive and having been “experimented” on with cybernetic implants. He frees them, and they rise and turn on him. James makes an immediate escape, not wanting to be forced to fight them, and heads for Nancie. He finds her, and they engage in small talk, but when Nancie starts monologuing James just attacks her. They fight, and Nancie summons forth a huge swarm of insects. James calls on Gaia and repels her and them, then goes bonkers and moves in to finish her.
James then remembers Natalya and goes back to deal with them. Find they are all now half-woozy and not a threat, with Natalya passed out. So James collects her and leads her team back out of the complex, where he meets up with Ordrin and Ingrid. They set fire to the complex, then open a Moon Bridge and head back for home.
JULY 21 – Back at the Caern Fixer and the rest have a grand 4th of July celebration. Fixer notices Kyleah hasn’t been bothering him, and wonders what her problem is. However, more importantly he misses James and realizes it’s been about a couple of weeks since he left and wonders what could be keeping him. He casts a ritual and “locates” James but the ritual says he is here, in Gary, but apparently not “here”. Fixer talks with Po and decide to go into the Fanumn’s occult library and do some research considering the whole thing. They do so, learning the Umbra is like a book with many Realms, or “chapters”, and pages other than the one they dwell on. Travel between the numerous pages is usually quite difficult, but they find hints on what it entails and how it can be done. They continue to research for nearly two weeks before they finally find the information they need. Fixer returns to the Caern and tells Anna she is in charge while they are gone, and not to let anything happen, if possible. Then he visits the vault and recovers some bottles of Eternity Dust, a Screech Whistle, and Caliburn.
Properly armed, Fixer contacts Jupiter and asks for some aid in opening a Moon Bridge so he can go get James. Jupiter agrees, and Fixer travels down the new Moon Bridge, noting it seems to descend a lot, is tight, and barely easy to travel. He exits in Gary, which all seems the same, and moves theu the landscape toward the Ironhorse Saloon. There he finds the usual collection of people, except he notices Carl there as well, but they all seem possessed. Overhearing their conversation, Fixer deduces James might be hidden away in “the Fanumn”, so he heads that way.
AUGUST 21 – James is confused. He returned to Gary, but something was wrong. Everything was quiet, and faintly stunk of Wyrm. He had reconned the Ironhorse Saloon before he went in, fortunately, and discovered Carl as well as a collection of people whom he felt were not really who they seemed to be. Moving away, James found a safe place to put Natalya and her team before he went out and dealt with some individuals. Discovering everyone, and I mean everyone, was either a Bane or possessed with a Bane, James rapidly cleared out a safe zone for him and his charges before discovering the abandoned Fanumn nearby. Packing up Natalya and everything, he moved to set up shop there and think over the whole situation. Time passed, and one evening Fixer came up on him in the Fanumn, but he seemed odd. He was talkative, and told James the Wyrm had descended on them right after he left and changed everything. Since there was nothing he could do with James gone, he did his best to make the best of a bad situation, until now when he discovered James was back. So now he was here to recruit James to help him reclaim the Caern.
James found all this to be filled with questions and was about to start asking them when Fixer showed up again!! He announced that the other Fixer was an impostor, and moved to take him out. Fixer shot Fixer and the two began to intertwine and fight, and James quickly loses track of who was who. After a bit, one Fixer pulls off and points the other out and announces for James to drop him. James senses Wyrm, makes his choice, and drops him. The remaining Fixer explains who he is and what has happened, sort of, and tells James he can only guarantee one of the returning home. James says he is not going to leave his Mother, and they come to an understanding. Since there is not much hope for the team, they mercifully kill them and collect Natalya. Fixer leads James and Natalya out, dashing to a spot where they can contact Jupiter to return back. They notice the entire Iron Legion plus is approaching and, noticing them, advance. Fixer calls upon Jupiter, who helps Fixer open another Moon Bridge which they then have to struggle up and out to return back home. Get back home where they discover it is now August, and Fixer must operate on Natalya to save her.
